Our family vacation this year was spectacular! We headed to Portland, OR to stay with my sister's family before going to our Tanner family reunion on the Oregon coast.
After much debate, we finally decided that flying was the way to go. It was SO nice. The kids were so excited and it was Gideon's first time on an airplane. I love the Long Beach airport--it's tiny!
First things first: enjoy the cousins! Jacob especially was in boy heaven with their 4 boys! (Poor Allison!) Sam & Jack got to meet for the first time :) My parents were there for the fun, too.
Emily's family is awesome at hosting guests. They really showed us a good time, including: visiting a fish hatchery, Multnomah Falls, downtown Portland, OMSI (science museum) and the site in a Twilight movie.
The day we went downtown, we broke off from the circus with all the kids :) and left with my brother, Brian, who lives near Portland as well. He showed us a GREAT time! We seriously covered so much by ourselves downtown. Here's one photo at Voodoo Doughnuts after waiting in line for at least a half an hour for A DONUT! But man was it good. Tom's choice was a maple bar topped with bacon. It was actually tasty!
Our adventures included: a Brazillian food cart for coxinhas, the Pittock Mansion grounds, Powell's Books!, the library, a Thai dinner, a random vintage shop... Loved having an awesome tour guide giving us a real feel for the city!
Portland was awesome, especially just hanging out with family. Next post will be the reunion segment--
